The automation of routine simple to critical tasks has been achieved
with the use of sensors, visual cameras, PLC's and many more
electronic devices. Now infrared thermal imaging cameras can be
easily linked into systems to help automate a process
using temperature measurement as the mechanism for control.
Software Development Kits (SDK) and Labview drivers are
available for system integrators or in-house software
engineers.
Examples include:-
-
Quality alarming when the thermal cameras sees slag
being poured into a ladle instead of molten metal.
-
Checking the temperature of a weld on a production
line and alarming or failing the piece if the weld
temperature is too high, damaging the product, or
too low risking potential future failure.
-
Checking the uniformity across the roller
temperature in a paper mill.
-
Monitoring heated seat elements for correct
connection and coverage within the assembly.
-
Monitoring ladles and torpedo's for refractory
lining problems.
