An Infrared Inspection Window is basically an optical crystal and
a holder. The lens or crystal material is selected to
transmit infrared radiation at a wavelength appropriate
for the cameras being used to perform the inspection.
The holder is mounted on the enclosure in a strategic
location to allow a clear line of sight to the desired
electrical components. Sometimes more than one IR window
is installed in a single cabinet. There is a sealed
cover on the lens holder to seal against pressure
differentials, weather, or other factors related to the
enclosure's design and location. In some circumstances a
grid is used rather than a lens, or even a removable
lens of a chosen material which can be taken from one
enclosure-mounted lens holder to another. The infrared
cameras are placed next to the window and the internal
components of the enclosure are scanned without opening
the cabinet doors. Thermal anomalies are recorded for
further investigation and repair.

Fixed Viewing Crystal
Windows VPF50
Injection Moulded Plastic IR
Window
This window has
a 55mm viewing area. Various optics are
available for short-wave and long wave
applications. Where there is possible risk of
electric shock or flashover due to the proximity
of the live components being inspected we only
use and recommend the fixed crystal option. With
several grades of crystal available we will be
able to tailor your system to your operational
and budgetary requirements.

Optics Carrier, Removable
Viewing Crystal VPR50
IR Window with Removable
Viewing Crystal
Where there is
no immediate risk to the operator of electric
shock, we have devised a view port with a
removable crystal option, thus offering the
client significant savings as only one crystal
will be required regardless of how many viewing
ports they may have.
This also allows
the client to use viewing crystals such as
coated ZnSe which has a 99% transmission rate
from 4-14 microns. ZnSe is too expensive to use
in large quantities, but because you only
require one crystal with the IRISS you can take
advantage of the best IR viewing crystals on the
market, together with the additional benefits
that using them brings, at a fraction of the
cost.
The VPLC-50 lens
carrier includes a lens and lens housing. This
assembly fits into the VPR-50 windows. Both a
VPLC-50 lens and VPR-50 windows are required to
use the removable lens system.

Internal Viewing Grill VPG50
Internal Viewing Grill, No
IR Window
Where there is
no risk to the operator of electric shock or
flash over, we have devised a viewing port with
no crystal but with an inner protective grill to
protect the assembly from objects falling into
the component during inspection but still allow
full access for an image to be taken.
